After using and testing the Pixel Tablet for over two months, I feel like I'm finally ready to share some thoughts on what it's like in and of itself, but more importantly, who it's actually for.

Enjoy!

I have a pixel tablet and there hasn't been 1 time I used it and wished it had a 90 or 120hz display. The tablet is buttery smooth and watching content on it has been great. It's like a big giant pixel phone 😂

Watching right now on the tablet, and honestly I love it. Needed something small for university notes and pdfs, and have a bunch of smart home devices. Its the perfect fit for me. Yeah it's a bit pricey, but 100% worth it if you fit into the niche you suggested.

This was a genuinely good description about who it’s for

When at home, I use my tablet 90% of the the time as my computing device.

This will be something I’ll be keeping an eye out for around Black Friday this year

This review is spot on. We needed a new tablet for the kids but didn't need anything powerhouse. And I I wanted something that could dock because kids stuck at charging things.

My current Google hub is small and limited. This is a crazy good hub with a much larger screen. And it has SO MUCH MORE functionality. Perfect for what the kids and I use it for.

Could it be better? Yes. But it would then be too expensive. I do wish it had a more impressive speaker in the dock but it's still good

Extremely well thought out breakdown of who it’s for. Love the device but sadly not necessarily something I need. Want is anther thing lol

When Google announced this last year I was looking at getting one, instead I got an A8 on sale, for £160 and TBH I'm glad I did, I only really watch content on it, I have a laptop if I need it, 3 desktops in my house, a phone and I'm eyeing a steam deck too, so yeah

Id consider getting the Galaxy Tab S6 or something in that price range next, just for extra ram and the performance boost

I honestly just want it for my kitchen, to listen to music while cooking and watching something while eating and just keeping track of my shopping list and smart devices. It seems perfects for that

I like how you theme the scene around a single color

Nice one. Been looking at replacing the Pixel C tablet. However that magnetic keyboard/stand makes it difficult to replace as use the device as a YouTube/Media player...
iPad is the obvious winner, but it is so expensive and doesn't have the "stand" 😅

I think Google will continue to make improvements over time just as they did with the Pixel handsets.

What exactly do people use tablets for? I use it primarily to watch YouTube/Jellyfin videos and read ebooks and this works well for both uses. My only complaints would be the overly glossy/reflective screen (I wish it had a matte screen) and the lack of face unlock. Most games play well, if you care about that (I don't) and the screen has decent brightness if you use the device mostly indoors. I have an older iPad from 2019 that I got from my office and the only major difference for my use case is a brighter screen. I don't really have a lot of use for the dock, so if you have the option to drop the dock, ask yourself if you really need it.

Great Video Sam! Beards looking great! 🤙

I reckon in 6-12 months once Android 14 is starting to roll out and google is pushing developers to optimise apps for tablet we'll see a very different pixel tablet 2!

This is one of those, "I want one but on paper it makes no sense because of the specs" but like other Google products, for the person it's perfect.

I bought it as a travel screen, and also a back up if I lost my phone while away, im sad it doesnt have a camera in it but overall, it will do the job I want it to do. Just got it today so still playing with it.

Regarding the letterboxing for apps like Instagram what would you do instead? Don't iPads also letterbox?

Great video. Is the camera on this better than the Lenovo duet ideapad 5? Like for video calls and stuff?
