The sci-fi concepts in series 10 really blew away most of the previous seasons. I love the idea of a race of robots programmed to protect humanity's lineage coming to view mourning as a deadly plague.

I like how the only malfunction was the robots targeting miserable people, but the murderous rage mode itself is a feature, complete with creepy death grin that someone had to consciously design.

The episode left me wondering: What were the intended parameters originally, the imagined scenario where you want the robot to display the death grin, execute someone on the spot then casually dump the body into the public food supply in direct view of horrified onlookers?

One of my favorite Capaldi moments. I love that his mood is constantly contemplative, even when he’s surrounded by killer robots. Not many Doctors could’ve maintained their scientific detachment through something like that:) Twelve just does it naturally. I love that.

Ive figured it out! So basically i think that the robots are an ai that is trained to find most efficient way to cause hapiness and the doctor said "smiles arent just smiles, they have an effect on your mood" so if you are in a bad mood visibly you might induce that in someone else. So the ai found that the most efficient way to cause hapiness is getting rid of negative emotions or people who visibly show them. Statistically this should be correct, however the ai didnt catch on that killing people would cause even more negative emotions therefor killing everyone.

That line of 'Do you know what it means when something chases you slowly? It means there's a good reason they don't have to run.' reminds me of a horror movie called It Follows, where the entity that is chasing the protagonists never moves faster than a steady walking pace, but it's still terrifying AF, because it never stops chasing you. It doesn't eat, it doesn't sleep, it doesn't rest. It just keeps coming after you at a steady walking pace until it catches and brutally murders you.
