Naturally, Everton needs a lot of work on each of its lines, but the feelings about the team were very good. I think one of James’ strengths is his superior vision. He regularly spotted open players on the other side of the pitch, and provided superb long passes to them. Unlucky not to have one or two assists, and maybe even a goal.

James brings another dimension of play for Everton.

Also, you can already see Carlos’ influence on the team as a whole. They played a different type of game, different from the usual EPL style.

I can't believe that was my team out there today. From start to finish we bossed them and they had nothing to throw at us. We gave them no time on the ball. Richarlison had 4 chances today, so we could have had 3 or 4 on another day. They played as though the team had been together for a whole season. This is the first win over spurs in 14 attempts, and our first win over a top side in 40 attempts. So that's two hoodoo's we have broken. It was a joy to hear commentators talk about us the way they did because that spurs team played like us last year. The futures blue. Let king Carlo start to write the script of our new bright future.
