The 747 has been my favorite airliner for decades. After taking over a dozen flights on the A380 in 3 different classes, the 747 can't hold a candle to it as far a passenger experience goes. Great airliner that I hope will travel on for decades yet to come.

Engineering never ceases to amaze me. I know we have the technical know-how to build such a plane, but how do you even go about planning and designing a behemoth like this? Incredible

I'll add #11...it is a dream to pilot. A neighbor of mine flew MD-11s for UPS from Anchorage to Paris. I asked him if he'd ever piloted an A380. He had, and said it was a really pleasant experience. But he still preferred the MD-11 BECAUSE it was more manual. He felt more in-control of the aircraft.

Fluttering isn't the right word when it comes to wing flex. Technically it isn't the right word. Wing-flex is correct, flutter isn't, especially when you're talking about lift

I have 4 flights coming up on Emirates via Dubai . First time with Emirates and first time on a 380.

Fun Fact of the day (Tuesday 6th February 2024): the A380 only has reverse thrust on engine 2 and 3 because engine 1 and 4 usually are above the grass next to the runway so if it had reverse thrust on engine 1 and 4 it would blow things on the grass away, e.g. taxiway signs vehicles (even though they wouldn’t be near the runway when a plane is landing) and just anything in general.

Flew a number of times on the A380 business class and once first class. Absolutely superb aircraft and a brilliant experience. Its the first time I've been on a commercial flight and its truly felt like a futuristic experience - the sheer size of the things is mind blowing and the mini bar is fantastic. Its a shame that there hasn't been more orders for them because they are a superb aircraft. The only negative I can think of is that the landings tend to be a little rough on the upper deck, not too bad but quite shaky 😅

10 problems with the Airbus A380.

1) The A380 is only efficient if it is near 100% full. It almost never is.
2) The A380 can only land at a limited number of airports because of its size and weight. (The 747 can land at far more airports).
3) There is no second hand market for the A380.
4) The A380 makes a poor freighter despite its size. The floors are structurally needed, making it difficult and slow to load.
5) The A380 is expensive and difficult to maintain. After a few years there are a LOT of checks and replacements needed.
6) The A380 cost Airbus billions of Euros. It never came close to paying for itself.
7) Most airlines that bought the A380 retired it in less than 10 years.
8) The A380 was very expensive to buy.
9) The A380 is good for a hub and spoke model while the industry is mostly point to point.
10) The A380 entered the market years too late.

Isn't it when boarding while approaching this plane you have the feelings of excitement, happy and proud even your ticket is economy only. For best experience when most passengers are sleeping make a tour from the main level up to the 2nd floor end to end lol.
