I think one of the reasons Walt goes along with this so quickly is that, even though it's a lie, it's still a way of showing off how smart he is - *he* came up with a clever card-counting system and that's why they're so rich. I think Walt's reaction would have been very different if Skyler had made up a story in which she was the one who found a way to make millions.
