The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror halloween specials are what I love most about the show. But I was curious to find out if their quality has dipped over the years like the entire series has. So I rewatched all 33 of them to be able to tell you when I think the Simpson's Treehouse of Horror died. Enjoy!

I believe that the Halloween specials were moved to November because they didn't want to interfere with the sporting events that Fox showed on Sunday Nights. Baseball and Football, with their useless post-shows, tend to run over, which means audiences on the East Coast would end up missing the new shows while those on the West Coast could watch them.

It funny how people my age tell me how growing up they were not allowed to watch The Simpsons yet the same people let their children watch Family Guy 😑

4:06 I get where you're coming from but come on, King Homer is a hilarious parody and a classic segment. And I love Attack of the 50ft Eyesores.

I Wish they'd bring back Treehouse of Horror as a fresh start.

This show is way past it's prime
I mean it has its gems every now and then but those are rare in my opinion

You know, I also wasn’t allowed to watch The Simpsons either as a kid. I’m 23 now, but I can’t imagine watching so many seasons & episodes of The Simpsons since it’s still going on to this day. I can see why you think Treehouse of Horror died after five years. It’s a pretty interesting video and Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.

Last year's episode as well as the IT parody were really good. I would put ToH 28 as one of the top episodes next to ToH V and VI.

Its basically hit or miss now. I think the problem is either trying to do three separate stories each year and/or not making the episode an hour because trying to fit three stories in a half hour is sometimes impossible.

Two Halloween segments in particular that I saw that made me go, “What the f**k is this s**t!?” we’re the ones where Homer is paralysed and can only communicate by farting and the one where Homer was the Cat in the Hat. Those were just awful.

Some of the best segments to me are the raven, the shinning, the devil and Homer Simpson, Death tome and simpsonsworld.

They died when Lisa somehow magically managed to kidnap Bart Milhouse and Nelson. Two of which are really strong boys and one who is mid level strong and needs his doggie teddy bear.

Honestly certain segments are better than others like Sideshow Bob finally killing Bart, so it’s not necessarily dead IMO.

Just a casualty of the show itself, and much like that segment every Sideshow Bob episode is my favorite which also breathes new life into The Simpsons each time.

Another favorite modern segment is the Peanuts parody from a few years ago. As a fan of said franchise it’s always fun to see more references in pop culture but I actually watched more of the modern ones in reruns and then each annual Treehouse Of Horror. I got to the ones that I saw on tv not knowing I already saw them and even though I didn’t know what they were I hated them.

The Simpsons was my favorite show at one time. I had all the merch and watched every single week. This was a good analysis. My personal favorite Treehouse of Horror was V because they had the strongest stories. Even the Chorus Line gag at the end was hilarious. But definitely, after the 5th installment, it had a totally different feel. So saying the 6th one was when it died is spot on. There were a couple of exceptions like the I Know What You Did Last Summer, Jack the Ripper, and Great Pumpkin parodies, but overall, it did change. Good video.

You're right in that the "Treehouse of Horror Episode 6" (from 1995) is probably the "should've ended it here" moment. I remember that last segment with the computer graphic Homer Simpson, that was an iconic episode. The series as a whole probably should've ended after 1997, but yeah, this was the last great "Treehouse of Horror" episode.

I stopped watching "The Simpsons" after 2000 (I was finishing up college by that point and I would eventually start watching Adult Swim, Family Guy, Futurama, etc). Skip ahead a few years, and I distinctly remember catching "Treehouse of Horror Episode 20" in 2009, as that was around the time I started taking my own kids trick or treating for the first time, and I was flipping channels and amazed to find they were still doing "Treehouse of Horror" episodes. So I remember that one, that was kind of a nice memory. But it really should've ended after that.
