If this doesn't convince you that we need to do something about our increasing screen time, I'm not sure what will.

So excited for this! I still remember back to a 12-day boy scout trip I took during high school, where the first two days I was really anxious about being away from my phone/email. But by the third day had totally forgotten about it. And by the end, was so relaxed. While I doubt my regular day-to-day can achieve that level of freedom from technology, I look forward to your tips :)

Looking forward to my 7 day digital detox! Feeling the need to reduce the distraction that my phone represents in my day. Thanks again for your message Anthony!

That is so awesome!
I had to write my thesis last winter and for that I had to deactivate my facebook (ended up being deactivated for 6 months) because I realized I had a huge problem focusing (like an ADD kid), even though I never had this problem before, I was always more of the calm, slow person (also worth mentioning that I didn't have internet at home, or a smartphone for all of my university years, and I was fine).
The first week was really hard, but then it gradually got easier to a point where I didn't miss it anymore. And I realized that FB mad me genuinely unhappy. So ever since, even if I reactivated my FB for old friends to be able to find me, it is my secondary communication channel. I "trained" all of my friends to use either an email or a text message to get in contact. And I still don't have a smartphone, and probably never will, because I feel more free when I'm offline.
My life is definitely better since I had this FB detox.
Waiting to see what other advises you have!

So far I’m the only one that finds it ironic being asked to sign up for emails to get notifications, that you are otherwise inundated with, in order to get detoxed from notifications.... however I’m sure there will be some great tips.

I'm definitely looking forward to this! I have priority mode on all day, every day but still find myself wandering to my phone if I need to google something or use Google Keep to write down something I need to remember. Hard to remember how things got accomplished before phones were common as people's assistants.

I really need this. I challenged my boyfriend to go tech free with me this weekend, and he agreed, but it was with a groan and a lot of trepidation. I feel like I was happier before I got so caught up in being on my computer all the time, but I'm having a hard time stopping.

Oh hell yeahhh this video ruled. Im stoked for this. I've been decreasing my screen time and am down to 1.5-3.5 hrs a day. I used to be at 7-8 hours a day, but I'd like to make more progress too. I'd say the worst thing about spending less time on your phone/electronic devices is noticing all the zombies around you. 😔😒

I used to hate that I am not allowed to have my phone or any other electronic devices where I work. I use a computer all day but it’s a government one. I can be on the web & have to be, but it’s mostly work related. Everyone that needs to reach me has the office # and I rarely have “emergency” calls.

Now I love not using my phone until I’m off work. It’s freeing. I hate that everyone is always face down in their phone.

I saw a lady with a toddler today walking probably home and she was staring at her phone... it just made me feel sad. Her daughter was following her and probably wondering why mommy stares at that brick all the time. Lol

I went to the beach and kept my phone in my bag the entire time. 4 hours with no phone. It’s actually really nice sometimes to not constantly check my phone.

I love this type of video since It would be very useful for people who have a problem finding the correct balance between digital life and real life. If people used it efficiently, we would take advantage of the technology in better ways. I will see the next videos. Thanks a lot, Anthony..

In my opinion, technology is absolutely necessary at this time, but people often do not use it in the best way. for example, the new generations only live and work with technology and do not enjoy other very important things such as sharing with family, in conclusion we must be careful with the use of technology. Excellent video

Totally on board with this! I recently purged all emails from my phone, the FB app, switched off almost all notifications and now leave my phone downstairs while I sleep and things have improved massively.

I still check other things compulsively like views, interactions etc on content I post on various social media platforms so that's my next area to work on.

Looking forward to hearing your techniques on this too.

I am an introvert and I prefer to be at home than at a party and I find myself on my cell ignoring everyone which is rude. I prefer RSVP "no" than to waste my time on my phone dressed up and feeling awkward. I do find myself on my phone checking Instagram if I am waiting for something or someone and I would like to break that habit and pick up a book instead. Picking up your phone every 5 minutes to see who text you is crazy but the norm. I just got off FB too which is awesome. I am soooo on board.

I'm very glad that you pointed out that we can use technology mindfully to make our lives better. I find it very important, because many people who just want to talk about something else than weather, they bring up the topic about the "horrible, destructive technology that makes us sad and life horrible". I think tech is an amazing thing and part of our life and we need to learn to use it mindfully and adapt it to our daily life. Great video! I can't tell how happy i am that you don't see tech as an enemy of society! Too much talk from me, sorry. I already signed up. Let's see what brings this detox into my life.
