1. Need a new graphics card!
2. For a new graphics card, I need a new processor!
3. For a new processor, I need a new motherboard!
4. For a new motherboard, I need new RAM!
5. Why should I upgrade everything in my old PC case, if it's a completely different PC!
6. Holy shit, I need a new PC.

My high school threw out 20+ computers and I was able to strip them before the garbage truck came.
Stripped the Duos and Athalons along with DDR2 Ram and took a hammer to the hard drives before throwing the new anchors back in the dumpster

I know it's old school, but I love having a CD ROM in my new system. Besides, you never know when you're going to need it

Install linux, then continue to use that old pc, and use it for surfing or light work.
Buy new components for new pc

Good god, my desktop old pc is 15 years old. Growing its own ecosystem from dust, needless to say the fans are unsanitary. Only possible salvage pieces are a 120gb sata hard drive and maybe some cables + the case.

I appreciate how you used lots of visuals to assist newbies like me lol!

I always cut the wires from PSU, you never know when you need wires for side projects

I thought the stuff about people saying OEM PSUs were ticking time bombs was just them being paranoid but recently I learned my lesson the hard way. I used an old PSU from a very similar system (Lite On 300W) in my rig and the other day I tried to turn in on. Long story short It probably killed my MoBo, RAM, and CPU! So take it from me, wait for the new GPU, the new CPU, use a little less RAM for A bit and get a new PSU from a reputible brand. And remember kids, "cheap comes out expensive" - My Mom 2k16

2:10 I would say it is more dependent on the case and how old the computer is that you are upgrading from in addition to if the computer is store bought 'stock' or custom built. If custom built, the power supply and case could be totally fine. In most cases though, the video is most likely correct.
