We've taken our slow travel lifestyle to the Dominican Republic. We've based ourselves in Las Terrenas on the north end of the island and are taking small trips from there. While I agree that Las Terranas is not inexpensive some things are. If you’re buying local products and not imported you’ll save money. We have stayed there for a few weeks and the grocery bills weren’t bad. Going out for a nice dinner in LT will not be cheap thou. Cheaper than Canada but not by a ton.
