I'm a data hog and have been using straight talk ATT side for well over a year. I have never been throttled once. Not saying it won't ever happen, but it hasn't. I use a hot spot daily, watch videos, listen to pandora. Have no issues. I may switch back to att prepaid, because now they will be offering lte prepaid. 65 a month for 2gigs, $10 extra for each additional gig.

As you are correct on that, you might have been connecting to Tmo HSPA+ but the phone was showing it was the 3G since its designed to run off Verizon which obviously doesn't have HSPA+ so there wouldn't be a need for the phone to have the icon for it. But in any case, switch to Tmo by all means. If it works better, do it

According to the FCC, HSPA+ is classified as 4G technology due to the theoretical throughput. The next step after that would be 4G LTE, then LTE-A.

After about a year with Straight Talk I switched to Metro PCS. I've tested my 4G I'm getting from them in countless different places in town ( I'm in metro Atlanta ).

Overall I get around 5-7mb down. Worst I get is 4, couple spots hit 8, but normally 5-7mb range. Not bad.

Verizon's 3G is only EV-DO and has a max of 3.1 megabits also. Also, with EV-DO signal strength does not dictate bandwidth.

It does exist, I just activated my phone with that plan, it's only available for new customers that activate their plan directly through the website. Talk to a representative online, they'll help you out.

Correction to the iPhone 5 Verizon model: the lte radio is good for Verizon and sprint... Att and TMobile lte do overlap as well but only one channel that's why TMobile bought the 1700mhz band and have their own iphone lte model. For more city's that have the lte for 1700mhz.

Straight Talk and Net10 both do not throttle their T-mobile service because its coverage is so low. That is why if you click on info it says AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint are throttled after 1.5 gigabytes of data and it says T-Mobile customers get unlimited 4G without any data throttling.

Same I agree man do not want to get straight talk I use data like crazy

Oh my phone used to do that with sprint.
I took out the sim card and it still could use data.

I'm sorry I'm using MetroPcs, which is owned by Tmobile! It's actual $10 cheaper on every plan! $40 500mb of High Speed Data, $50 2.5Gb, and $60 Unlimited! The $60 is what I got and its been working great! I love it!

When it comes to verizon and t-mobile, you can only compare their lte service, because unlike some people their 3G uses different technology

Other cell companies charge me too much for roaming through the roof data packages which are uncalled for.

Just to clear things up the iPhone reads 3G as HSDPA or UMTS, 4G as HSPA+, and LTE as LTE.

Incorrect, not all Straight Talk phones run off of Sprint. They can run off of AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, or Sprint. It matters on which phone or SIM card you get. Do your research before bashing my videos.

HSPA+ is only called 4G because of marketing; it's a 3G technology. T-Mobile 3G ("4G") is VERY fast.
