Welcome back, Richest fans! One of the important aspects of any nation’s military is the Air Force. The planes used can help provide a number of vital roles on top of battling in the skies. Yet when it comes to the exact model, is it better to buy cheap or go expensive? Well, that’s what we’re going to explore today. We’ve selected some of the most expensive and cheapest fighter jet programmes across the world. We’ll look into their history and various costs to determine whether splashing out is better or not.

Now for the spoiler paragraph. If you like surprises, we suggest you stop reading and watch the video multiple times. We start with the Mirage 2000 by French company Dassault Aviation. This jet became one of the most popular European-made models of all time. For the start of the pricey entries, there’s the now infamous model of the F-35 by Lockheed Martin. Looking to get an advantage over their U.S rivals, the then-Soviet Union created the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21. It even became very popular in India. Next is one of the most famous plane designs of all time, the B-2 Spirit by Northrop Grumman. Its incredible technology made it very, very expensive. Over in China there’s the Chengdu J-20 that could be expensive or cheap depending on the various, wildly different estimates. Then there’s the beloved Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor. Even though the price of the jet kept rising, the U.S are really fond of this stunning aircraft. Finally, we’ll briefly look at the incredible price spent on the briefly lived Seawolf-class submarines.

I thought this video would choose two planes and comprehensively analyse what you get from a 1million vs 1billion fighter. video should be titled 'some fighter jets'

I think US should revive its f-22 raptor with upgraded modern equipments like they did with the f-15.

Thank you for the update, TheRichest..!! 4:14 When B-2 Spirit was first introduced, there were rumors that the bomber had a secret anti-gravity ability embedded, due to its $1 billion price tag. Compared to B-2, the same stealthy F-117 Nighthawk had a far less price tag.. When the US Air Force first released the B-2 bomber dropping dozens of 250lb bombs, people have speculated once again that the bomber was using the anti-gravity technology, because the bombs were dropping in a single file (straight down) in the video.. That only meant the bomber was not moving when the bombs were dropped.. @.@ We can still find that video on Youtube..

You guys need to do a "deep dive" into educating yourselves about the difference between fighters and bombers.

The B2 Spirt is a Stealth Bomber not a Fighter. I get you wanted to show off expensive Military Aircraft, but you could have just made a list about expensive military aircraft instead of mislabeling a Bomber. All US bombers have a "B" in their designation name hence why the plane is called a "B-2". While all US fighters have an "F" in their designation name, such as the "F-35" & the "F-22" or the "F-15". I have a feeling you guys don't understand the difference between the roles of a Fighter & a Bomber. The sole job of a bomber is to bring a large number of heavy payloads to target, such as the B-17's 4800lbs of bombs to the B-52 Stratofortress's 70, 000lbs of bombs. The B-2 Spirit has a Bomb Bay Payload of between 40, 000 (the official number) to 50, 000 (the theorized number)lbs of bombs. While some Bombers such as the B-17 had guns to defend themselves against enemy fighters. Their roles were not to achieve air superiority or to fight other aircraft. Fighters are primarily meant to fight other aircraft, although more recently they are designed to maintain air superiority & for strike missions that do not require the massive payload of a bomber.
