I live in a nursing center. Out of all the residents here only 4 have tested negative. I myself have been tested twice and am one of the 4 who are negative. I am praying it stays that way.
Update: though we have lost quite a few residents here the nursing home is now covid-19 free. Employees are still wearing protective gear though and keeping us updated on what's happening and being done.

These aid workers and nurses who work in assisted living homes and nursing homes all need to all be tested for the virus

I live in Buffalo N.Y where my son work's for a nursing home! The only thing they do when he goes to work is check his temp!Myself, and my older son have been infected with covid! My younger son who works for the nursing home shortly after I became ill, he started to feel ill as well! When he called his job to tell them what was going on they told him that he should come to work..That it's most likely a panic attack, and that if he does have it he would of already infected his co worker's!!This makes me sicker then I already am..I know from having covid that checking your temp doesn't tell you if you have covid or not..My temps started low grade!I wouldn't wish this on anyone, and the fact that so many employers are not taking this seriously is despicable!!God bless all! Please take this serious, and be safe!!

It is incredibly difficult to control in a convalescent homes. I don't think people really understand. There's difficulties on cruise & military ships, prisons, jails and it is because the living quarters are too close. Very contagious and easily spread. Certainly family members are angry or upset but they have no idea the seriousness of even having their family member in a convalescent home and yet taking them home might not be an option. ☹️ I have to be brutally honest.

I’m a nurse working in a long term care psych/behavioral facility and this breaks my heart in pieces. Currently dealing with a now COVID19 facility I am hoping we do not see this level of destruction from COVID19. I can say we are giving it all we have and doing everything we can to keep our patients safe as well as ourselves preparing for the worst and hoping for the best.

Please. Nursing homes were always hot spots. They're awful, most of them are negligent, uncaring, and totally overpriced.

If care and concern of these residents was sincere caregivers would have never been overworked and underpaid.

Those people who volunteered to be locked in with the residents are truly a gift to those that they care for.

The nursing home owner gravy train is coming to a grinding halt. Investigation of this racket is long over due.

We have numerous nursing homes near us. Ambulances are deployed there numerous times a day. Try counting the number of elderly dying in nursing care facilities from influenza and pneumonia during the flu “season”. Stop hovering outside like a vulture. Also, any data showing that these chemicals are safe to spray all over dwellings where people live? Or how poorly staffed these places are due to low wages being paid to those who care for our elderly? The US has a disgusting state of poorly managed senior care facilities.

$24, 000 to risk your life, nurses and stnas are severely underpaid and this will never change.

My sister is a 40 year old quadriplegic & was living in facilities like this. All I can say is thank god my mom chose to pull her out & take care of her on her own...

Nursing homes are so filthy. The system needs to change how nursing homes operate

It’s the central ventilation systems. The filters do not do their job, such as air planes.
Why don’t they see this?

I have been a certified nurses aide for 39 years, specializing in geriatric care and dementia care. My first nursing home job (1981) paid $4.17 / hr. In 2020, I'm being paid $13./ hr! Almost all CNAs work 2, sometimes 3 jobs to just make ends meet. This is true for other support staff in nursing homes and assisted living facilities, who also work very hard for very little pay. It is no surprise that this virus is spreading like wildfire, since many of us work a full 8 hour shift at one facility and then head to a second shift at another facility or agency.

I used to work in a nursing home, this is no surprise to me. I knew it would only be a matter of time, I actually thought this would have happened way sooner though.

I pray for those who got infected. My grandma is in one and has Alzheimer’s.
