Wow Nathan, this is strong. I support this heavily. I am high functioning on the autism spectrum and I feel like some of these tips you gave may help me when I do need to speak publicly. Thank you so much Nathan.

i feel like faking eye contact is completely missing the point, when I do presentations and I'm unable to look at people I simply can't know what they are thinking or if they are understanding me at all. Looking at people in their eyes turns the presentation into a conversation. I feel like you can't communicate to your audience effectively if you don't look at them. Btw, I do presentations online and even then I find it extremely difficult to look at people. So also my question is, how do you get from not being able to look at people at all to being able to look at them in their foreheads?

Thanks Nathan for the tips for doing this. I'm still trying to get my head around when I do try to do some public speaking or just speaking to people in general can be nerve wracking and more nervous. I've tried to talk to others either in public or just a one to one conversation. I appreciate this very much.

This is solid, useful advice, and I'll be putting the parts I wasn't already doing into use. Thank you!

I tie up my long hair so i don’t start to twirl it without realizing so I love your toe wiggle idea because I haven’t found a way to manage my “muppet arms” yet. I also pretend like I’m an actor and I’m acting like a calm and confident character- that has changed my public speaking life!!

Thank you! I have never been good at scanning the room or dealing with the autonomic arousal. I love connecting with people and have a lot to say, but public speaking has always been like rubbing my brain over some kind of culinary device. 😂❤
