Me: “oh cool, a holy staff, this’ll surely defeat gloom enemies easily!”

TotK: “Fancy glow stick, take it or leave it”

I expected at least like the dazzlefruit effect where it one shots undead enemies

I get that the star fragments are technically not classed as gems but I expected something a bit more bombastic than a light show

Fun fact:
Based on my own experience, if you dive from sky islands at night, you have a decent chance of stars spawning and falling right next to you, close enough that you can catch them midair.
Either it's more likely they'll spawn that way, or I'm ridiculously lucky, because I swear I've caught _at least_ 6 star fragments that way. Probably closer to 8-10.

Edit: a kind commenter explained that when the star fragments spawn, they have to spawn on-screen, so if you're looking down, it's forced to fall really close to you.

It'd be neat if it slowly cured gloom hearts like sunlight does

A lot of people say that the star fragment should have some kind of anti-gloom effect like the light dragon scales/horns/claws, but I think a more original alternative would be to have it imbue the low-gravity effects of some of the sky islands since the Star fragment is from space.

If the projectiles would've been able to hurt enemies, then it would've been great

Most useless weapon I’ve ever found in a chest.

I didn’t fuse it, but I got it from a chest…., and I’m hanging in Link’s house for decoration

If the game had depths monsters that were adverse to light itself where it caused big damage- then light items would be phenominal, but honestly i never used it when i found one in a box. I usually just hover carted around until i found a new root and lit up the area- or tgrew brightblooms around because i had 99 9 at two seperate points from allthe caves.

I tend to fuse a star fragment on a shield for a permanent glow effect in the Depths. What you can do with a star fragment on a rod though is something I never thought of doing, and glad that's a thing. It's amazing what we can do in this game. The only crime (aside not being able to pet dogs) is how fusing butter on a shield doesn't make shield surfing slide more.

The most helpful part about these is that if you find one you can bring it over to Tarrey Town and defuse it for a free Star Fragment and a wand that you can use to make an actually helpful weapon with

I'm glad there are videos like these showing me what happens so I don't have to spend my own star fragments.

Villagers: Wow that's a cool staff Link! What does it do?
Link: *waves the staff around creating pretty lights
Villagers: Oooh so pretty! But what do the lights do to help you fight?
Link: *shrugs, switches to his silver boko reaper and runs off

As per the rod's, staff's, and scepter's descriptions they all allude to finding maximum power in gem fusion. Combining any of these with a sapphire gem creates an absolutely broken ice weapon that, while hardly doing any damage on its own, freezes trash mobs and allows for follow-ups; Frozen enemies take multiplied damage from the next hit dealt to them.

When I found this in a chest i thought it was like some sort of of god tier weapon that shoots exploding falling stars. Took it to a lynel fight and realised its literally worse than a tree branch.
