How do we know which coordinates are for which tangent?

Sir can't we just use the co-ordinates of the radius of the equation then sub in that equation to Y of the circle then find the X-values of the tangent using the answer then sub in to find that value. i did that but got completely different answers but didn't i do the same thing but differently?
