To me, being in love with Alec made Maurice realize that he wasn't ill and the two of them are very strong to be with each other.

I remember searching up maurice in elementary because its my name and seeing this, and seeing it was a lgbt movies its funny that later on im fully gay and this is my favorite movie.

after revisiting Maurice honestly Maurice deserved better than clive...the scene when maurice is breaking down crying after realizing clive is falling for his sister ada is heartbreaking. i felt so bad for him when he was like what will come of me. clive dismissed everything they had b/c he was scared after seeing what happened to risley but i feel like he was just trying to convince himself too that we have to do better... to lead straight lives.... it was too much for maurice to handle all at once. i felt like clive did what was expected of him too b/c of his status in society. i like where maurice and scudder ended up together. so many layers to this movie which makes it a classic
