Soul Bowl is bringing authentic, soul food to North Minneapolis, blending tradition with a fresh twist. Co-founder Gerard Klass shares, “Normalizing being served by people who look like you in your community is a goal of mine.”

The journey began with pop-ups on Plymouth Avenue seven years ago. “It felt really good to be able to come back, bring food back to Plymouth Avenue, bring healthy food options, and then just a sit-down restaurant back to North Minneapolis where we definitely need that,” says co-founder Brittney Klass.

With an emphasis on comfort, convenience, and community, Soul Bowl creates a welcoming space where guests feel at home. “It’s like a family reunion in here almost every day,” Brittney adds. “People are seeing each other that they've seen from high school and used to work together, and it is a joy for us to bring people together.”

The new Soul Bowl 2.0 in the V3 Sports Center elevates both service and experience. “I want hospitality to kind of come back to the forefront,” Gerard explains. “I just want people to experience that and bring some of those old roots back re-imagined in a way that works with how fast our lives are today.”
