I sincerely hope Victor Hansen is appointed as a cabinet-level advisor to the Trump administration; his perspective and down to earth wisdom is invaluable and rare.

I appreciate Mr Hanson's knowledge. I live in Asia the past 40 years and see the world entirely different from how I saw it when I grew up in California and lived there until I was 35.

"we will not recognize our country."
I am 72, and I already don't recognize my country. It has already happened, but the thing is, it's going to get worse

Our biggest problem is complacency and those that take advantage of complacency.

How do we overcome the military / individual complex? How do we overcome Big Pharma? How do we produce a citizenship that is aware of the problems?

There is the same suicidal, corrupt, and dumb approach in the economy by relying on and supporting just few mega corporations in every industry sector and have a total disregard for small and medium size business.

We don't need politicians we need statesmen.
We don't need social-isms we need sociability.
We don't need group thinkers we need independent thinkers.
We don't need doctrine we need sagacity.
Civil servant is not a job it is a duty.
Equality is not a mathematical equation its a right.
Liberty is not produced by government it is protected by government.
Obviously democrats have and never had any of these qualities this nation needs in educating and governing our people.

Are the leaders naive? Or are they bought? Just asking.

Thx Dr Scott. Enjoying your interviews thus far. H R and Victor are two of my most respected men, actually you too after seeing you bring sense to the Whitehouse press briefings during covid.
There are so many great Hoover Fellows, male and female that provide excellent analysis in many venues, they all add to the mix of knowledge and expertease that informs and enlightens us.
Lastly for us who pay attention, we can influence friends towards good policies and debunk falsehoods.
I'll stop there. Thx again.

Reading the end of everything after finishing the Father of us all. He brought me back the joy of learning history. Thank you.

Creatures of DC. Well said, but you have got to understand that all fighting forces have been tied to the whims/careers of these creatures since at the mid-90s, from my perspective as a retired Marine. The dictates from on high have been innervating the skills and abilities of our military institutions for a long time. If you want to understand the basis for this erosion in the Marine Corps, start with looking at the traditional definition of Unity of Command, provided by Henri Fayol, to the current joint forces definition adopted in Marine Corps doctrine, then take a look at how the officer promotion criteria has been justified under the current definition. Without a wholesale reconstruction of basic military doctrine you will always be confronted with these creatures because you have not dismantled the system that creates them. Same could be said of the career enlisted ranks.

It goes beyond naivete. We too often are faced with reckless leadership - that is clearly purposeful - derived from spite, opportunity, and/or dogma.

The US is blessed with geography. To be fair, it doesn’t know existential threat. It would unwise to underestimate nations that have experienced it :)
