got married last year and our tailor was a very sweet but very traditional old man, so when we took our dresses in for alterations he kept saying how lovely it was that we were getting married at the same time, he thought we were gal pals having a joint wedding 😩 we also got introduced as mr and mrs on our reception entrance!!!

So true! Even though "girlfriend" can be used for just a friend, I feel like contextually that's how people would figure out I was gay. Now that we're engaged, we have the same problem as you since "fiancée" is a gender neutral term (other than the slight difference in spelling), and everyone just defaults to straight. Can't wait to use the word "wife"!

I own a business and a quite a bit of people purchase my products for their weddings. Usually someone will message me to make sure they can get it on time and I make sure to ALWAYS address their partner in my thank you note as their partner. I've never said fiancée, fiancé, husband, wife, etc. It's beyond me how people just make assumptions this day in age. I'm 32, so I guess I grew up in a more accepting culture, but it still baffles me how people just as you said, default to that old age "tradition." Even if they're super kind about it, I still just don't understand 😂

I have never been in one, but I have known so many women who I have thought about being with.
Intelligent, articulate, funny and hard-working women. So much more interesting and worthwhile than a lot of men I know.
I think there is a phobia that some women may have of being lesbian. Kind of denial.
