This video goes over the severe audio drift issue when streaming over the webcam out port on the ATEM Mini and the workarounds to the problem. Hopefully BlackMagic Design will release a firmware update to fix the problem.

Outstanding explanation, Mike. I have the ATEM Mini Pro ISO linked into my laptop with Camtasia. I'm trying to create corporate training videos and there is a .18 delay between the audio and video. The BM audio delay dials have absolutely no impact, I also tried to run the mic direct into the camera and then the sound does not go through to the ATEM and back to the laptop and camtasia software. Very frustrating . I can of course split the audio and video in Camtasia and move the audio forward .18 but to sync the audio and video but that seems crazy.

I have experienced this problem before. It is an issue from the PC encoding settings. In longer sessions of encoding, CPUs become overloaded. Just throttle down your encoding setting.

Hi Mike:

In "OBS project" they have and open thread about "Video & Audio Drift" ... (not only with ATEM devices).
You try another computer with OBS?
you test the issue with another cameras and different HDMI cables?
Did you try recording the webcam signal directly to your computer using something different than OBS?
Your ATEM has the lastest firmware?.
Disable Game DVR in OBS?
What its your "Common FPS Values" in OBS?
What its your sample rate in OBS?

I use the webcam out of the ATEM mini Pro to OBS exactly like you. I do long live music shows, conferences and theater and no audio drift. I stream to youtube, facebook, Restream and Zoom meetings.I use the mic inputs and camera audio. I have two ATEMS and both work without that audio drift.

I hope you can find the solution to your audio sync issue.

Great Video! Please keep us posted if you get an update on the firmware that fixes the audio.

We have produced many many 1 to 3 hour livestreams using the ATEM Mini Pro directly to Facebook and YouTube without the sync drift issue.

I’m bypassing audio by connecting mixer directly to the laptop and still have the same audio sync issues so i guess its a video delay issue when using usb-c.

Hi Mike, have you recieved any feedback from Blackmagic design regarding the problem you encounterd with the audio drift. There seems to be a high number of seperate issues with Audio, related to different methods of capture when using the mini. However there does not seem to be direct answers for these issues as the product is being used differently by content creators. Like yourself I intend to use the Atem mini for extended periods of time and am holding off purchasing the unit based on your experience. I need to be able to reliably record. stream and switch between cameras without the hassle and headache of audio sync problems.

I just stumbled on this Atem Mini video which made me check out your games. (I also subscribed to your Sportszone Oklahoma channel and this channel.) I heard you are using OBS for streaming which is what I am using also. Up until now I have been just using an Elgato HD60s to run my video into OBS. I just bought an Atem mini this week so I can run a wide and tight camera in my setup along with a Hollyland 300 pro for a sideline/remote camera. I am glad I saw your video. I think Friday night I will just turn the sound off and back on to sync the audio back up. What are you using for your scoreboard? Your broadcast looks AWESOME!!! I want to step up our broadcasts to your level. Any help you can give me would be awesome.
I can also email you if you would like.

Is there a switcher that you would recommend then? Also do you connect from your cameras to whatever device you are using through HDMI or SDI?

Do you have a marching band that plays at the football games? If so, do you mute when they play to avoid copyright issues or what is your situation with that? Would love to know as I both stream the games and am the marching band director for the school in my area.

Mike, does the ATEM Mini Pro (partially) fix this problem by outputting the video/audio mix to YouTube (etc.) via its RJ45 connector? I said partially, because your issue might still arise if you were using the webcam out port to record your video/audio mix via an external usb-c drive.

Mike...I'm starting to build the hardware to have events broadcast. Has there been any updates to the ATEM Mini to your knowledge? Thanks

if you take your audio mix in via one of the camera HDMI connection eg turn audio on for Cam 1 ( so you send you audio to cam 1 line input and back out thru the HDMI connection) do you still get the drift in sync - IE dont go through the Mic 1 or MIc 2 inputs at all

The delay issue has been fixed for weeks now. There is a delay feature for the 2 audio in inputs. Another option would be to run the remote mic into the camera itself

You have to get all of your audio into your main camera and it will stay synced better over the usb

You talk about a hope for a firmware update, but you never mention which firmware version your ATEM Mini has.
BMD has released firmware update 8.5.1 to address this on October 27 which is over a week prior to the date of your video. Have you tried it?

I have done w few livestreams and have had no drifting at all with this fix. You should give it a try.
