The Spheres, Amazon's giant biodomes in downtown Seattle, allow employees to escape the office to work and brainstorm surrounded by nature. Take a tour with NBBJ architect John Savo as he shows off the features of the workspace, including a five-story living wall with 25,000 plants. It’s crazy what you can achieve when you don’t pay taxes.

People seem to be negatively criticising this idea, but I know I would personally prefer to work here than a depressing office block. The natural light alone would make me more productive, and make my mood better. I think it's a great idea.

I may have misgivings about the company commissioning it but I love the architecture and the greenery

The architectural equivalent of "hey i wanna go eat lunch in the park, but dont want to interact with homeless or poor people"

so nice they treat their corporate employees well and go out of their way to relieve their stress. I worked in an amazon warehouse, break time was 15 minutes. the place was so big It took me 6 minutes to get to the breakroom and 6 minutes to get back to my work station. thanks for that 3 minute break Amazon

And in mean time.... I am fighting with my company so they replace my broken chair....

Edit: also, who else here hate the person that ask to change the AC for half of the building every 5 minutes?

Edit 2: my chair is still broken :(

‘Every amazon employee?’ I think every amazon employee are locked inside warehouses packaging boxes on a conveyer belt 24/7. Well done for making a sphere building for hire-ups with laptops sniffing plants.

I don’t know about amazon themselves, but I appreciate that there is someone making beautiful buildings mostly for the sake of it

Reporter: " The idea was every Amazon employee can get up from their desk and explore..."

Me: " what about warehouse workers, what company do they work for?"

This is literally like Changi's jewel, but office instead of an airport! Good job on creating such a lovely workplace environment.

I'm sure the warehouse workers appreciate money spent on these spheres instead of their wages.

This is futuristic nature. It may open up many new possibilities of conserving nature and blending the nature and artificial world together. 👌

I do not know how much this architecture helps Amazon's productivity but the company is doing very well. I wish we had more of these spaces all over the world. The sterile and noisy open-office model saves companies money but are horrible. It is frustrating how many companies are still adopting it for short-term cost perspectives only.
