CAMPUS CRAWL is a series where I take you to tour the top campuses around the world. So you can get inspired to apply to Ivy Leagues (or your dream school) and eliminate the fear of going to college. Or just get a wider perspective on elite student life. This is a special Office Edition!
This weekend I toured Seattle and went to the Amazon Headquarters HQ. Access to the Amazon Spheres are restricted to Amazon employees and their friends/family. But because we're with Campus Crawl, we got insider tour access!
Inside the Spheres are over 40,000 plants from over 30 countries!
The Amazon Spheres are a place where employees can think and work differently surrounded by plants. The Amazon Spheres are a result of innovative thinking about the character of a workplace and an extended conversation about what is typically missing from urban offices– a direct link to nature. My favorite thing about the building is the fact that it's extremely warm inside, a nice contrast to the cold rainy Seattle weather.
It's called the Spheres, and it's a trio of massive glass domes located in the middle of Amazon's business center. The Amazon Spheres are intended to serve as space for Amazon employees to work and collaborate with their colleagues, all while relaxing among flora and fauna from across the globe. Or it could be Jeff Bezos' personal garden. The possibilities are endless!
The Spheres officially opened earlier this year and are part of the $4 billion construction of Amazon's Seattle headquarters. The largest sphere, the one in the middle, is 90 feet high and 130 feet wide - which is about 10 floors tall. It took 2.5 years to complete and launched in 2018.
