As beautiful and sporty as the 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible looks from the outside its driving characteristics are more of a grand tourer than an outright aggressive sports car. If you’re looking for blistering fast acceleration and extremely sharp handling - look elsewhere because the intent of the Lexus LC 500 Convertible is to be more of a touring cruiser than a track monster. That doesn’t mean the 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible is a slow car. The naturally aspirated V8 engine will push it from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds! Let's take a closer look!

Hi, great review!
How comfortable is the suspension and how insulated from road &wind noise do you think this is when compared to the luxury German rivals that you mentioned?
Thanks!

Appreciate the review. The car is beautiful. As for the trackpad, ADULTS who own an LC 500 hardly ever use the trackpad. ADULTS read the OWNER'S MANUAL and learn about all the features of the car and also VOICE COMMAND. Then, the first thing they do is run MENU/SETUP and select their default personal preferences which takes care of 95% of EVERYTHING. You can go back and change your preferences as often as you like. The trackpad is mainly there so you almost never have to use it. Using VOICE COMMAND, simply press the TALK button on the left side of the steering wheel, wait for the BEEP and then TELL THE CAR WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. No trackpad involved! For instance: "press button, wait 2/10ths second for beep, say "radio", say "AM 760" and the radio goes to that station. Or, press button, "say FIND, say PIZZAHUT and you get several choices, say the CHOICE NUMBER" and your GPS will guide you there. Or say "Text John Smith and tell him I'll be ten minutes late". In the rare event where VOICE COMMAND won't do everything, such as warm the seats, you simply press the button and say "SHOW SEAT HEATER SCREEN" and you're right there to simply slide your fingers up or down a bit. So, having covered this "trackpad is garbage" subject, we can now all agree on one thing. This car sells for about one-third of what it is worth. When you consider EVERYTHING including Lexus RELIABILITY which means it will never leave you stranded by the side of the road at 2 a.m. because a cheaply made, poorly designed circuit board failed and/or if you ever needed one new wheel bearing it won't cost $750.00, as compared to many other cars costing three times the price, THIS IS THE ONE HELLUVA CAR. I've had my 2018 for just under four years. It's InfraRed with Toasted Caramel. I drive it almost every single day but I know I am not a race car driver and don't drive on the public roads pretending to be one. It's plenty fast. It steers well. It brakes well. It does everything it was designed to do without exception. The trackpad has never been an issue because I learned VOICE COMMAND and didn't assume I knew everything there was to know about this highly, complex machine. As a side note, I opted for the 20" wheels because living in the San Francisco Bay Area means driving on more pot holes than smooth road. With the 21" wheels, if you hit a pot hole at 65-70 mph, you aren't going to be happy. I recommend the 20" wheels but that's just my opinion. My car has been 100% perfect. No problems. No squeaks. It's just absolutely flawless! Sometimes, even after four years, I just sit and look at the car and can't get over what a marvelous looking machine Lexus brought to market. These are the best cars produced today but...isn't it nice to have a choice???

Not sure why Auto Reviewer University doesn't teach these guys to read the Owner's Manual but I wish they would add that to their curriculum. Most of the other courses the "university" offers as standard seem fine but it seems no reviewer ever learned about VOICE COMMAND. Had the university added this to their courses required before graduation, we out here in the audience would learn just how GREAT the infotainment system really is on the LC 500. We would learn that adults who buy complex cars need to familiarize themselves with all the nifty features so they don't miss out on the "cool stuff". The LC 500 trackpad is primarily for setting up the software to the driver's personal preferences so he never has to use the trackpad again. Simply run MENU/SETUP, select all personal prefs and then learn VOICE COMMAND. Once done, you just TALK TO THE FRIGGIN' CAR and tell it what you want to do. For instance, push the TALK BUTTON on the left side of the steering wheel, wait for the beep and say "RADIO, AM 780" and the car changes to AM 780. Or, say "PHONE MY WIFE" and the car phones your wife. Or, say "FIND THE NEAREST PIZZA HUT" and the car gives you several choices and you pick the one you want. Or, say "WHERE IS THE NEAREST HOSPITAL" and again...the car does the work while your hands remain on the steering wheel and your eyes remain on the road as your're traveling at over 100 feet per second. You can even talk to the car and tell it to play your favorite music! It does just about anything you want and should the occasion occur when you actually need to use the trackpad, it's there for your convenience. The other choice on some lunatic systems is the TOUCH PAD. You take your eyes off the road and scroll around on the dirty, oily, greasy, smudgy and probably scratched screen and for that amount of time, since you're not paying attention to where you're going....bad things can happen. Now, wouldn't it be better if Auto Reviewer University taught these people this? Maybe I'm wrong? Maybe you're supposed to be a bit moronic and putz around with the trackpad? I don't think so but for the low I.Q. people, maybe that's how it is done. Having owned my 2018 LC 500 for just under four years, it is the finest car ever. It's perfect. It does everything it was designed to do and it does it very well. And, unlike those over-priced cars from The Black Forest, you won't ever pay $750.00 for a wheel bearing and you won't ever be stranded by the side of the road because a cheaply made electrical component failed. All one has to do is test drive these cars and they sell themselves.

I would have liked to watch this video, but I skip all reviews that start with music. If you watch all the successful car reviewers, you will notice that they do not have a music intro. Just saying....
