Chris, geo chemistry is a very interesting field of science for understanding how deposits are generatated, how they evolve with time and what to look for.
Any book dealing with the theme might be good. Prospectors saying "Gold Rides An Iron Horse" is a resumé of many fascinating and complex geo chemical proceces describing the transformation of iron sulfides.

One book that resumes pretty well introduces to the theme:
Ore Deposit Geology by John Ridley

It not only handles gold, but many types of deposits and was, at least for me, introductive and instructive for determining which areas and rocks to consider closer.
If there are better books, I'm interested.
I'm still looking for an understandable book that handles in particular the chemistry of the gold-ironsulfides relationship and its chemical evolution in time.

Nice tip Chris, I'm now going to re check a lot of the pieces in my garden. The pieces that gave no signal on auto settings! Cheers

The gold monster ground balance system works independently of the auto / manual sensitivity setting .

Great vid bro! Wish I knew you were in the 'wick, I'd have brought my monster for a play too! I've been chasing my first specimen and totally forgot about the creswick bush 30 mins from my place 😳. One thing I'd add to that for folks that are starting out is that the pesky ferrous/non-ferrous bar on the monster should only ever be used as a guide, and a half blind and deaf one at that 😅 its handy but I've had metal signals turn into straight up gold in the scoop and vice versa.... some of the best advice I heard, albeit a bit late was cover the meter on the screen in black electrical tape til' ya learn the tone 😅 I never did but I definitely took it on board! Peace bro hope to catch ya out our way one day soon ✌️🤙

Auto 1 and 2 are auto sensitivity not ground balance. It always auto ground balances no matter what sensitivity you are in. The monster has a 24 bit micro processor that's always running

Yup love that setting on the gold monster don’t tell anyone but that setting can also be used to find black sand concentrations on creeks and rivers. (Not sure about cassiterite since there’s not much here in the USA) thanks for sharing see you on the next one 👍🏼👊🏼

Love it! Say, on the halo effect thing....does detectability vary with purity? Like, does 24k detect more loudly than 10k?
