Something i’ve always loved about Meruem is how compelling he can be without any pre-established backstory or past. We literally see him be born and live out his whole life. Truly an excellent character.

The fact that meruem and gon the most important characters in ant arc had never meet each other .. and the personality shift of meruem from a monster to a soft caring person and the character change of gon from a caring kid into a complet monster is outstanding

When I saw this opening the first time I was like: “Why is Meruem playing a board game? And who’s that girl?”

After watching the entirety of the Chimera Ant arc, I look at this ending with both nostalgia and sadness. Such a brilliant anime 😭
