EXTERIOR
This quirky Mitsubishi Galant is the fifth generation of its luxury family car, a rare sight on UK roads even in the 1980’s. Finished in Silver Beige Metallic, (Code S28), this one owner from new example has covered just 55,098 miles from new. The paintwork boasts a bright polished finish with markings and remedial paintwork evident upon inspection. Having been strictly stored in a heated garage throughout its entire life, the structural integrity of the underside is in excellent order, as are all factory panels. Trim sections are fully intact and preserved having avoided UV and moisture damage associated with outside storage. The supplying main dealer number plates and tax disc holder remain fitted. This GLS model was the top of the range for luxury, outdone only by the sporting choice of the 2000 Turbo, and represents a virtually forgotten slice of Mitsubishi history.

INTERIOR
Supremely plush, indulgent and wonderfully 1980’s! This luxurious GLS model is further enhanced with the factory 2000GLS Diamond Option Pack which added to the already impressive specification. The original sumptuous deep cushioned seats in Mid Beige, (Code 42F), are virtually as new with no sagging, fading or damage. Contrasting dark brown carpets are pristine as are the two tone plush door cards. A wonderfully 80’s feature of this high-end model is the quirky wing column control centre which straddles the steering column and offers fingertips control of all driver functions, including the fully operational cruise control! Absolutely all equipment works perfectly, including the Philips DC553 stereo cassette with electric aerial. An interior that epitomises the 1980’s technology boom, a delicious slice of nostalgia!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the four-cylinder inline engine with twin-choke downdraught carburettor and silent shafts, this whisper-quiet powerplant produces a quoted 100.5bhp at 6000rpm and 154Nm torque at 3500rpm. The engine bay is glorious and displays factory plates, stickers and chassis stamping. The 5-speed manual gearbox is effortless in operation and offers fuss-free top gear cruising manner.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The standard GLS six-spoke alloy wheels remain fitted with minor markings and are shod in 185/70 R14 tyres with good tread showing. The spare wheel is housed in the immaculate boot area beneath the fully intact plywood boot floor and alongside the original toolkit and jack. The power-assisted X-Line dual master cylinder braking system with discs all round, ventilated to front, offer excellent steady stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 14th November 1986 by Mitsubishi Main Dealer, Gallaghers of Sandycroft, this wonderful Galant 2000GLS had just one owner from new and covered a mere 55,098 miles. The first and only owner, Mr Raymond Pugh, purchased the car for his wife having been so impressed with the Mitsubishi Sapporo he owned at the time. Both cars were truly cherished and sat alongside each other in their heated double garage. Having now stopped driving, Mrs Pugh’s family made the decision to part with the car, ready for the next custodian to appreciate and enjoy, and KGF Classic Cars feel privileged to find that next enthusiast.

The original document wallet holds the service book, handbook and radio guide, and there is a further file of invoices and previous MOT certificates. Competing the history file two sets of keys and an original sales brochure. Dare to be different with this super-rare classic Mitsubishi.

MOT July 2019, HPI Clear.

This really is a super rare gem. Love Japanese cars from the 80's

Wow! What a find, perfect color too. From a time when Japanese cars had their own distinctive style. I rode once as a passenger in a GLX just like this one, and was impressed by the cool and luxurious interior, it was a nice comfortable drive too, with a calm but quite strong engine.
This one is so much nicer than the GL models, which I thought were a bit bland.

Lovely! Looks like the mid-80s when Japanese cars weren't afraid to be a bit, well, Japanesey.

In Australia these cars were known as the Magna and had a wider body and the 4G54 engine 2.6L Astron II. A wagon variant was also designed in Australia.

Wow, I owned one of these exact models back in the late 80's, it was a dream of a car to drive, just comfortable and quiet inside compared to most other cars of the time. And that 2L engine had some get up and go, and would happily push 130mph. A car I certainly wish I still owned. And just so rare nowadays. Been to dozens of car shows and never spotted one. Hard to believe just how good a condition this one is in, must have been garaged for it's life, my one sadly suffered from a lot of rust because it lived outside.

These were a cracking car, again in my youth, couldn't afford one, damm but the boiler man at RAF sealand did in metallic green, and when he was on shift parked it in the boiler room to keep it out the weather and in the warm

I just went through the brochure of this Galant. The amount of luxury which came as standard on this GLS model is really amazing when you think this went on sale in 1984. Just compare this to a (then just facelifted) Cavalier!
Headlamp washers, power steering, sunken wipers, time-delay on the interior light, automatic climate control (without AC though), speed-controlled wipers and even cruise control, all standard on this GLS.
Too bad they didn't sell any better, I think this Galant surely deserved it.

Drove one of these from 1985 to 2000
Interior way ahead of its time
But transmission weak with fake 5th gear used vacuum to engage horrible.
But loved this modern shape.
