They’re horribly unsightly but, as a daughter of a now retired farmer, sticky fly papers do indeed work, just be careful if you do use them when sticking them up, if it gets stuck to your arm you’ll be trying all day to get that glue off of said arm! And heaven forbid you get it stuck in your hair lol! But once they’re up they aren’t going anywhere, & they’re marvellous inventions x

Windex kills most small flying insects and ants and then evaporates. A vacuum cleaner works well for wasps, Japanese beetles, larger flies and approach slowly so as to not frighten them away.

Sticky fly traps could work. I'm in Canada. We get them at the dollar store every spring. Good luck with the retreat!

Please wear a mask next time to protect yourself from breathing in toxic chemicals. Best of luck for your retreat!

OMG — I first read that as “500-year-old WIDOW infested with flies.” 🤣🤣🤣 And I thought, “I imagine she is.”

Vinegar trap may work. About 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, one tablespoon sugar and a few drops of dish soap in a small plastic cup. It works for gnats well.

Julie you should wear safety glasses when you do sprays and stuff that would protect your eyes.🐞🍃

The vacuum cleaner extension sucks them up in no time.

When you have that many flies, get your vacuum cleaner out with long hose and suck them all up. They can't escape so remove the bag and burn it. It's alot better and safer than those smelly sprays.

Where I live in Central Oregon, we get flies real bad too and any two story house will have hundreds of dead flies on the window sills every fall. Icky! You are just too cute trying to avoid the buggers!! Lol

I have a brand new condo, and this summer had two unexplained flushes of house flies. I believe they are called cluster flies and yes, they lay eggs in window and door frames. Harmless to humans, but SO annoying. Fly strips next year for sure.

It's such a pain in the butt. Been there done that... Check the window in July August and September and you should catch the spawn before they hatch.... Watch the curtains as well.

Rubbing on an orange oil, or some other type of herbal oil to get rid of the flies and eggs

You can tape off the entire window with plastic and use a fumigation bomb several times to kill that infestation. You may have to do it several times to kill the eggs but it will work.

Skim coat of thin set concrete should eliminate the holes.

What about a bottle half filled with beer/old wine - that attracts them and they drown

We hung fly stickies near lights on the ceiling and turned lights on at night near them
