Recently my husband said he just doesn't understand why the GOP does not care about the future of our country. I think he finally got it when I explained that every individual that I personally know does not care and is in your face selfish about anything that would help their own children. I'm horrified by them, but plane and simple if it doesn't benefit themselves immediately, they don't care and won't put resources into it.

The problem is not between the old and the young, but between the rich and the rest of us. I have no probllem with older people having a dignified retirement; I have a problem with rich people paying a lower overall tax rate and leaving the rest of us in the lurch.

The point of giving Social Security to everyone was so that everyone would support it. That worked for a long time. Even today I never hear upper middle class people complain about Social Security. It's those who need it the most who want to get rid of it.

SS is already means tested. Just increase the tax rate on SS benefits to 95% on incomes over $400K.

If Scott wants to be president, he ought to stop bashing social security. Seniors are doing better than they used to - thanks to social security, smaller families and years of mostly booming economies. Raising up younger people doesn't have to come on the backs of old people. The billionaires and the gazillionaires could pay their share. That would solve the problem.

My millennial daughter has told me for years that social security won’t be there when she’s old enough to retire. She was saying this before trump even. I told her it won’t be if you don’t fight for it. We were both right.

I just don’t understand how targeting the wealth discrepancy is not the top measure for voters because there are so many more people at the bottom. What an administration ought to be able to show is that there is a better distribution of wealth and if that hasn’t happened in your administration, you have failed. I’m pretty sure back in the late 60s and early 70s when I was young, the top 1% owns the vast majority of assets. It may be even more egregious now, but the point is, it’s the same and we’ve gone through multiple commendations of parties in office and in Congress.

I’m Gen X I don’t know what he’s talking about. Our 401k is almost empty. My mother also died with no savings and relying 💯 on social security. Tax the billionaires out of existence
