Cooper didn’t say that the RNC couldn’t come to Charlotte. He said the discussions into how to safely hold it in Charlotte were ongoing and more than likely masks would be required and capacity wound have to be limited. Trump threw a temper tantrum and pulled the convention.

Also not going to lie, he is very handsome and attractive. Pretty Privilege is a thing. If he had better-talking points and a better way to show his charm. He will for sure charm Western North Carolina. Just my theory, anything is possible.
