Hilarious episode! Imagine the fun it must have been to watch it the first week it came out in the 1950s. I liked the comment I read recently from a viewer that her family had the first TV on the block, and when her mother would get home, she'd find the whole neighborhood in her front room watching I Love Lucy ❤️.

Desi was one of the most brilliant comedians of his time and never got enough credit for it. His timing was perfect. And this is one of Frawley's best tidbits. Lucy got to work with the inimitable Gale Gordon here, years before her later shows. He was originally intended to be cast as Fred Mertz, With Bea Benaderet as Ethel, but I'm guessing Gordon had his commitment to Our Miss Brooks and Benaderet to Burns and Allen standing in the way.

By the way, much as I love those two actors, Desi got it right with Vance and Frawley.
