The Devil's Dye

Jeni Neill talks about how she used historical records about the 'strangers' in her debut novel The Devil's Dye. This is a story set in late 16th century Norfolk, centring on a group of 'strangers', the worsted industry, the indigo dye, and Black Shuck, the terrifying black dog that was said to prowl howling along the dare lanes and footpaths. Jeni tells us of the different stages in her research and about how she used it in the writing of her novel.
