In this video:

In Judge C. R. Magney State Park in Minnesota, there exists a natural phenomenon along the Brule River known as the Devil’s Kettle- a waterfall that splits in two, with one half falling about 50 feet into the river below and continuing on its merry way towards Lake Superior and the other half falling into a large hole in the ground that seems to go nowhere. In fact, local legend posits that anything thrown into the Devil’s Kettle will never be seen again. People trying to disprove this have thrown everything from boxes of ping pong balls to giant logs into the hole to see where they end up, with nothing ever seeming to emerge anywhere nearbye. So where is the stuff thrown in going?

Same place as my socks when they disappear in the washing machine.

I grew up near several reservoirs, each with a huge syphon that looks like a whirlpool from the surface. You’re not allowed to swim in them but people do. Apparently the weight of water is so great that people who have been sucked into the siphon come out the other end as shards of bone.

I don't know why they haven't blocked off the one side temporarily and then abseil down to see what is at the bottom.

I live near Devil's Kettle. It's quite a hike but a beautiful hike! It's always been an interesting mystery. 🙂

They probably called it off because they thought the dye would have a detrimental impact. Then again it could just be because they want to keep a little mystery in their tourist attraction.

For the first time ever, I walked away from a today I found out video more confused then when I started. I still don’t understand where the water is going and why wouldn’t a camera or gps tracker be of any use? I understand the pressure is destroying things. Okay so, make a very strong gps tracker. Like the black box in airplanes? Is that not logical? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Devil: "Hi, it appears you threw a ping pong ball into my kettle? Yes, I'm calling to collect my reward, your eternal soul. Have a nice day."

If someday you need to get rid of the body you know where to take it

This is one of those mysteries that will never be solved... Because, even though people are dyeing to, no one has the balls... 😉

Why not have a heavy duty string(cable) loaded with sensors every half foot or foot and slowly let it into the "Devils Kettle".
Bound to get something back from it.

Surprised you didn't mention the movie Jennifer's Body. It's set in Devils Kettle.

If you ever see someone throwing a human size bag of trash in there please disregard!

They opted for a different test method in 2017 folks. The dye wasn't needed since they tested the water flow at the top and again at the bottom and they matched. The water comes out from a vent at the bottom of the falls.

So what you are saying is someone needs to sneak the dyepaks in permission be damned. Ask forgiveness later.

I dumped “logs” into my toilet and I never saw them again, ironic and very creepy!😱

I've been there. Totally cool. Pretty good hike to get to the falls, mostly uphill. The Minnesota North Shore has tons of waterfalls. On one of my hikes there, a previous group of hikers encountered a bear.

My guess was the water teleported to Australia to fill Devils pool 🤣

This is just up the North Shore for me. Finally something really close to home! Yeah, never quite figured out why they didn’t just tie a camera to a rope.
