92-year old has driving lessons for first time in 50 years - BBC News

A 92-year-old woman has started learning to drive in a bid to give her "a little bit of independence". Betty Jones, from Barnsley, said getting a full licence was "something she had always wanted to do". BBC Look North met her in Huddersfield as she got behind the wheel.

Someone of that age does not have the reaction time necessary to safely operate a motor vehicle. They should have to take a full physical, eyesight test and hearing test, on top of taking the drivers test.

I don't care who it is every single driver should have a re-take driving test once they turn 70. Because if they have arthritis or dementia that can have serious affects on say having the strength to drive the vehicle and remembering what to do in a tricky situation.
