Doppler Shift Equation and Redshift - GCSE Physics

preview_player
Показать описание
The Doppler shift or the redshift is related to the velocity in which a galaxy or a star recedes from the Earth. We need to know the reference wavelength, the apparent wavelength, and the speed of light when using the 'doppler shift equation'.

Thank you so much. Now I really understand how to solve using Doppler Shift equation.

At the end do they make a mistake by not converting the speed of light from m/s^2 into nm/s^2? Lovely video for explaining the equation otherwise

Is it the same formula if I’m calculating dopplereffect for sound waves or should I use the speed of sound instead?

Can you derive the equation you used V/c = delta lamda/lamda?

Is it right that the nm over nm cancel each other out? Cause i thought you’d have to multiply by something like 10^-9 but i guess i shouldn’t do that

But what if you don't have the reference wavelength? I have a homework assignment like this but it doesn't have the reference wavelength so I can't figure it out.

The observed wavelength is what you see in your instruments but how do you get the reference wavelength?

So 😂 are you saying Einstein is wrong b/c anything with mass can't travel at the speed of light but you Sayed 33million m/s
