Virtualbox: Word On Windows On Linux!

In this video we take a quick look at installing virtual box on Linux. Virtual Box will let you install windows so that you can run any app on Linux you can run under windows, as long as it doesn't require hardware acceleration (e.g. games, high-end video or cad software)

This is good stuff! I have Mint running (finally due to old hardware issues) on a laptop due to you guys inspiring me to once again try Linux.

One of the first things I find great about it is being able to just swap a drive with a linux install into another computer (laptop no less) and have it just work.

Did you have a problem, where in seamless mode, windows don't pop out and are still only rendered in a view of Windows desktop ?

The classic idealistic OS arguments always crop up when trying to hang on and simply have access to Windows after switching to Linux. Preach if you want but I for one think it's great to explore the possibilities of virtualization within Ubuntu. Thanks for the video!

so if you don't ned that much gpu power in Linux you could go with the igpu and give the gcard to the VM? Or do I miss something?

When you went into settings on your VirtualMachine from Virtualbox, you can also asign more than one cpu thread to the VM.. it will make a much better experience if you start to use VM's

Is it possible to transfer files between the host and guest OS without doing something like uploading and downloading from an intermediate such as dropbox?

virtual box is not working . i am new to linux platform so not so used to the usual debugging that i see most people doing.
error: RTR3InitEx failed with rc=-1912 (rc=-1912)
i have check a lot of forums for the solution but didnt get one.

You said in the Beginning i can passthrough a videocard with vt-d... Does that mean i can get a gtx 750 for ubuntu and a 780 for the windows vt-d passthrough stuff and run programms and games at almost native speed?
If yes, how?
If no, why not?

This is cool. For whatever reason, the inverse (running Vbuntu apps on Windows via VM) doesn't work well for me - has a border of the desktop background and is choppy. Despite a high-end CPU and GPU.
