I had a colonoscopy when I was 31. Found nothing serious, thank God. My GI doctor told me to come back when I'm 40 for another colonoscopy. He was also telling me that doctors should be screening colon cancer BEFORE 45. Even if there is no family history etc..

Lots of know-it-all comments who don't know anything about the human body. As much as humanity as a whole knows about the human body, it's rarely that easy to pin down a single unilateral culprit. That's why research and the scientific method exist. Although, people want a simple answer so badly, many will desperately search for that uber-culprit until they find something to convince themselves of, even in a total absence of actual evidence.

Naturally, a _likely_ particular culprit is going to be a matter of the foods we consume because of the nature and present understanding of colon cancer, but definitive answers don't come without studies. That's my theory, and I don't know how accurate it is. It's okay to have theories, but let them be theories. We really really don't need more baseless assumptions presented as facts filling the air. It's healthy to acknowledge that we don't know for sure and practice to be open to other possibilities.

Sodium nitrites are a huge cause of colorectal cancer, and they are present in pretty much all processed meats, such as hot dogs, ham, sausages, pepperoni, cold cuts, bacon etc. American people eat tons of these things.

Besides our diets and lack of fiber and “raw” eating, having worked as a histology tech once upon a time I can tell you they are overworked, understaffed and clinics aren’t paying a fair wage. Moreover, pathologist are not really doing their job properly because the tissue is being dumped in the cassette and not being aligned properly, why? Because the clinic wants to have 300 cases a day and not care about quality but rather quantity and pump as many people through. False negatives and early detection are now a serious norm and it stems from the bottom up. Little things add up.

I read some articles from the nih that suggest that hpv does increase the risk of crc. Maybe this is part of the reason this cancer on the rise.

I believe its the gmo foods causing the rise. As for screening at age 45 that just started used to be 50.

Yeah, you can tell she wasn't doing well given that she looked well over a decade over 30 when she was diagnosed, and looks even sicker "after" the treatments. Its the modern (not just United Stated) diet of high sugar, processed, low quality fats and seed oils, and the consumption of alcohol. All of these things lead to increasing colorectal cancer rates. Maybe those who promote these trash food and alcohol products should face consequences for making multiple generations of people sick.
