Can travelling at the speed of light become more than just fantasy?

Space and Time Warps
“Picture
In science fiction, space and time warps are a commonplace. They are used for rapid journeys around the galaxy, or for travel through time. But today's science fiction, is often tomorrow's science fact. So what are the chances for space and time warps.”

Warp Drives May Come With a Killer Downside
“Planning a little space travel to see some friends on Kepler 22b? Thinking of trying out your newly-installed FTL3000 Alcubierre Warp Drive to get you there in no time? Better not make it a surprise visit — your arrival may end up disintegrating anyone there when you show up.”

My exwife is a vastly unlimited source of negative energy.

Don't you just hate knowing you'll never get to see all this

I betcha these aliens are like, "Maybe we should take these humans out! They're starting to figure it out." lol

I wonder if the effects of warp drive operation could be a good way to look for signs of extraterrestrial intelligence.
This also might be why Earth has not been contacted by aliens yet as any galactic civilization may consider any species not capable of building an FTL drive too primitive for contact.

I'm still hoping for the infinite improbability drive

If it's possible, then make it so.

Never say never....
70 years ago who knew about nuclear fusion. 200 years ago who knew about steam power....etc, etc.

That feeling when you warp to another star system and accidentally blow up an entire planet

Remember it wasn't too long ago when people thought you were nuts to think that some day we'd have machines that could carry people and fly in the sky from point A to point B, today known as airplanes.

Skepticism is a great thing, as much as I disagree with the naysayers. We all can't just be blind optimists. Remember, many people were skeptical of the heliocentric model of our star system. Hell, there still are naysayers, despite overwhelming evidence.

I'm going into physics to hopefully work on solving the mystery of the drive. The more hands on, the faster we can potentially make this dream come to fruition.

Just ask the aliens who visit us regularly how they do it...

You forgot that Star Trek ships all have DEFLECTOR EMITTERS. These are the "dishes" that you always see on ships. They emit a shield of sorts that pushes particles away from the ship. Essentially it's a plow.

Next up....how to fix "lazy eyes".

If u leave the comments section long enough, u may get negative energy and thus use it, to fuel your spacecraft.

I've been working on warp drive for 3 years, and I believe I have designed a warp engine that could accomplish this. It would do exactly what is described in this video.

The simple fact that science admits that travelling faster than light *IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE* is astonishing !

You left out the most important thing of all. Harold G. "Sonny" White found a way to reduce the amount of energy from a Jupiter size mass to just hundreds of kilograms by alternating the field and shape it as a ring. That's when NASA changed the status of a future warp drive from improbable to plausible and started to work on it. Sonny is now working for NASA to research this warp drive. However we don't even have a proof of concept yet. The improved version is now called the Alcubierre-White warp drive.

I'd think that using worm holes would be the solution for faster than light travel, as in the movie 'Contact' or 'Event Horizon'. Obviously, we can't make worm holes, but it would solve the trouble of having to deal with all of the mass objects, between point A to point B.

I'd volunteer!

For the second ship using warp drive, and only if the first worked 😄😂
