Watch again: Zelensky addresses US congress during visit to The White House

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky capped off his visit on Wednesday to Washington DC with a rousing speech before a joint section of Congress, which began with those fiery words.

In his remarks, Mr Zelensky invoked US military triumphs and called on Congress to make decisions that will save “millions of lives” as Ukraine fights its own war of independence.

This was an international effort. Everyone that helped Ukraine should tap their shoulders. Good job. My son is in Ukraine and I'm proud he made the decision to do so. He took with him 20 years of his own savings with him. I blessed him.

I have a message for all: in light of ongoing world events, such as the war between Ukraine and Russia, we must all come together to help one another, to care for one another, and to support one another.

Every nation on Earth, including those we don’t get along with, has good civilians. We must do what we must do: be kind to others. Give blood. Donate old things, including toys and books we have outgrown.

From the bottom of my heart, I can say that in terms of the innocent people of both Ukraine and Russia, it doesn’t matter to me who wins this war. I stand united with all of you genuinely good and friendly folks out there. We are with you and are against your wicked governments. We know you are all doing what’s best for the children and victims. By helping them try to heal from these horrific aftermaths. We’re ready to help out any way we can. I’m sorry if I’m offending anyone here.

Now, in terms of World War III, that could mean the end of humanity. But until that happens, we’re not leaving this world without living life to the fullest in the time that we have.

If there’s one thing that we were put here for, it’s to build and create, not to destroy.

So whenever you feel alone, please remember that you’re not. There are others you can count on. We’re all in this together until the end.
