Nine News and ABC News Brisbane report on the 1st day of operation for the New Generation Rollingstock trains running exclusively on the Gold Coast to Brisbane Airport line (Airtrain).

According to the news reports the response from the public was mixed..I agree the seats are hard and are probably the worst part about these new trains.

Looks like the first trains that ran today were NGR 706 and NGR 704.

The solution to the toilet problem is simple:

Problem:
The two centre cars of the train are designated as wheelchair accessible cars. Wheelchair passengers from one car can access the toilet, but the ones from the other car cannot make it around the toilet to get to the door. (The toilet is located in the centre of the train).

Solution: Just rotate the car with the toilet in it to face the other direction so all the wheelchair passengers can get to it.

This solves all the problems except for the size of the toilet, which can be solved just by making the whole thing bigger and the path around the side narrower, now that no one is expected to have to make it around.

Note:
Wheelchair passengers can currently make it between all the cars, the only thing they cannot make it around is the toilets.

And all Queenslanders will rue this day. Horrible trains from a horrible government.
