I am a professional nanny and $13 is very low. A living wage where I am is around $16 to 25/hour and then have taxes taken out depending on experience and education.

Single bachelor, no kids… yet here I am taking notes on How to Save on Childcare, lol. Great informative video nonetheless!

This was actually helpful! Childcare from a church. To be honest/ the biggest problem we have is trust. I don’t think I can ever fully trust dropping my infants off at someone’s home. This is really the issue 😬

There is also ECEAP which is free. if you child is 3 years old and meet income requirements. And if you go to work at your children’s daycare, you can get an employee discount. I pay $600 a month for 2 kids full time in the summer.

Sorry, but this video is very disappointing. The numbers are so off and there is barely any tips on how to exactly save on childcare 🙄

Where are the actual tips on saving though?? Click bait? not cool

These numbers are pretty off base. Most professional nannies, such as myself, take in around 16/hr gross. I currently make 22/hr with standard benefits (guaranteed hours, sick pay, etc..)but I have years of experience and certifications. I definitely think PayScale is outdated and leads parents to think they're being scammed when industry standards have just risen. I think it's important for parents to figure out what they want. Higher experience = more money but that doesn't mean you can't find a great nanny for 16/hr, they may just be starting out. Nanny shares are a great option. Contracts should be your best friend!! It protects you and your nanny.

This is IF you have all the options available to you. Childcare is so sparse where I live and it is absolutely NOT worth trying to cheap out on. Try and feel ok about paying a lot for the care of your child, this is their life.

Nanny share and baby sitters are great but they are logistical nightmares.

Costs in my area (for in home daycare and daycare centers) are atleast 400-500 a month higher than the prices you listed 😳, I know it varies by area but holy cow

You literally didn’t give any tips. I understand that you’re giving National prices but those seem incredibly low. I live where cost of living is very low and our childcare options are way more expensive than that.

These numbers are ridiculously low. I understand it’s based on the national average, but even those numbers don’t seem high enough.

We pay about 2200 a month for 1 kid for child care.

This is the main thing holding us back from having children. We live in a state that has the second highest childcare costs in the country 😢

The cost of childcare is so ridiculous....absolutely ridiculous...it honestly makes more sense for one of us to not work

Paying in-laws to babysit grandkids is kinda messed up

Actually there is no debate needed if we discuss benefits of a stay at home or part-time flex situation. The science is IN. All the LT studies show this about kids that are in daycare 100% from 0-5 years of age. Actually raising your own kids: getting that relationship established when they are young is priceless! You can be replaced at your “job” within a few weeks.
