It's not always about getting richer It's about having a nice affordable place to live.

It's a home and roof over head..
People do what they have to do.

I bought a 40 foot trailer to put on 5 acres and that’s what I now live in and it’s quite comfortable. Has a fireplace has everything you would need.

We inherited 100 acres and bought a 10 year old double wide trailer, had a well drilled and power poles put up. It's our forever home. Total cost- $30, 000

It’s gonna cost him $5, 300 a year to live there instead of $24, 000 rent each year to live there. If he lives there 4 years, he has made his money.

Funny, I see allot of trailers being rented out as old as from the 80’s

Most homes have not had significant improvements so they have just gone up in price because of inflation. It takes more of today's $ that has less purchasing value ( worth less) to pay yesterday's cost(replacement). I live in a 2004 mobile home on my own land. No mortgage. It costs $400/mo in utilities. New roof, hvac is 5 yrs old, new water heater, etc.... It is stick built and hurricane strapped. Survived tornado that took my mailbox and wiped out McMansions across the city. Not sure of appraisal value. Neighbor bought their home next door 2 yrs ago for $140k for older, smaller mobile home and less land. My annual taxes in AL are $195. Sometimes value is based on affordability. There are news reports of the poor quality of new homes. Mean rent in Birmingham for 1 br is $1100 plus utilities. Dave preaches live within your means and then berates folks that do so.

Wrong. The trailer itself, correct, : but s well build trailerhome owned on owned property does increase. Theres cities like them everywhere. Point isnt the house or car Dave, if well maintained and improved, : it does stay relative. Just like your home.

If he pays 80k for the trailer and in 15 years it's worth nothing they'll have paid 5334 per year on their housing costs. That's 440 per month. In my opinion it's not a bad expense.

Yes, houses go up more than trailers, but in these times trailers go up. Bought 2 1/2 acres and put a new Homes of Merit double wide on it in 2003. Financed the whole sum of 90k in central Fl. Now it is worth well over 200k. And been paid for for over 10 years. Wish I had built a house but didn’t have the $ then. We have made improvements, metal roof, windows, etc. Ain’t building until we’re ready to get away from all the people moving into Fl

My son bought an old single-wide, 2-bedroom trailer in a trailer court about 10 years ago for like $20k. He lived in it for 4 years and then sold it for like $22k. Last year, it was listed on Zillow for OVER $100k! It quadrupled in price in just 6 years!

As someone whose had to move a dozen times, nothing beats stability and peace of mind, knowing you have a home to lay your head. Once youre on solid ground(even if its a "depreciating"🙄trailer), it makes it way easier to start thinking strategically about finances, health etc.. its the same with cars, hes so anti new cars i doubt hes ever owned a pos lemon and the absolute nightmare it is, never knowing if its going to start🤷‍♀️

I bought a singlewide on a steal of a deal 6 years ago and put it on my property I can assure you I've saved a ton of money living here instead of renting a house.

Hit 230k today. Appreciate you for all the knowledge and nuggets you had thrown my way over the last months. Started with 35k in January 2025..

A modern trailer stays relatively equal value if you also own the land under the trailer

Dave's a little wrong here, our trailer went up in venue 3 years after purchase, but it was mostly due to inflation

I live in a double wide on 1.2 acres, it was appraised at 285k when I bought it. Now zillow is saying it's worth about 335k. And it's 36 years old...

If it’s on land with a good foundation, it will go up in value
