2016: Nintendo is planning to release a title called Marionette for their upcoming NX console. Of the details known, the game would have a nontraditional character from Super Mario RPG serving as the protagonist. Beloved by a niche fandom, Geno was adopted by Shigeru Miyamoto as the ideal vessel for a game centered around puppeteering. Surprisingly, the opposition to Geno and the player consists of two gloves, known as the Master Hands from the world-famous Super Smash Brothers series. The personnel and assets used for the Yarn-centric Kirby and Yoshi games are being utilized for Marionette as a cost-cutting measure, but also to provide a cloth aesthetic for the puppets. However, the big visual differentiation for the game will stem from newly developed techniques to simulate the appearance of wooden toys and props.

Super Mario 64 2 was cancelled and the Super Mario 64 DS doesn't count, they literally was going to release but they switched to Super Mario Sunshine

That Marionette game may have had a spirtual successor that does seem to play like it called Octodad. It's avaiable on the Wii U now. If you played the game, I think you can see how it can somehow relate to Marionette in terms of gameplay by the way Bradley described the game.

Great video! I actually knew about every game but Marionette on this list, so I was impressed that someone else had interest in such interesting games, especially Kid Kirby. (Which barely anyone has heard of.) Honestly the only other cancelled game I know that's rather obscure is Comanche for the SNES, which was some FX Flight sim. Good video overall!
