Dunkirk (IMAX) - Fortis 1 is all alone

I like the fact that Nolan never shows you the German pilot's face. Light music punctuated by the bursts from the Spitfire. No forced dramatic crap, no huge explosions, no screaming. Fortis 1 disabled him and moved on. Very cold and impersonal.

That moment at the end, the look in his eyes. You can see the raw struggle going on inside him
between his duty to get home to fight another day and his duty to his helpless comrades down below.
Amazing acting as always from Mr Hardy.

there is something about this scene at the start with the music, amplified sound of the machine guns, the vast openness of the sea and sky and just the eyes of the pilot. Incredible. I also found myself drawn in to watching the Messchersmit gliding across the screen and thinking how beautiful the shot was and then suddenly the machine guns open up reminding you that Hardy is trying to shoot it down. Half of the problem with engagements was the fuel limitations. It was a real and paramount issue for pilots, shown very poignantly at the end of this scene.
