Adam shares the story of the very first object he made in a shop, when he was twelve years old in his school's shop class. This project was inspired by one of his favorite gags in The Little Rascals! More stories like this one are in Adam's new book, Every Tool's a Hammer, available now!

Next One-day build:

Make a new version, but with a boxing glove on the end.

Challenge: only use the same kind of tools you had at your disposal back then.

Figures, Adam's first maker project is basically a prop replica!

Book purchased. Thank you Adam for the years of wonderful content and inspiration. My daughter started watching Mythbusters with me when she was 3. She is about to head off to college next year for mechanical engineering courtesy of your unwitting tutelage. Thank you.

Adam " I was clearly not measuring the distance between these carefully"
Everyone else... "Nothing's changed there then."

That is pretty neat you still have that. A quality memory that can be cherished and smiled at always.

My first high school project, was a cutting board for my Mother’s Day present. It finally fill apart last year, which lasted almost 55 years.

I totally recommend the audio book, hearing Adam's intonation on the stories makes it come to life and I can really see how reading some of the passages in my own internal voice would have changed the stories somewhat. Loved it. Definitely made me itch. I so badly want to extend my house to make space for a multiuse space including a shop!

Love the Audible Book. Adam is narrating it and you can feel the heart in it. So much has resonated with me and I am only 3 chapters in.

This just goes to show that you were talented in the art of crafting from the very beginning and destined to be a maker of great skill.

Of course because he said, "do NOT make this.." everyone is, of course, making one as we speak.

The most charming and inspiring plug for a book I've ever seen. Can't wait to get this at my LBS!

Congratulations on the publication of your book, I will look forward to reading it, but do not worry about the imperfections of your first build for they are what make it perfect.

I've had your audiobook version for several days now and I love it. Really inspires me to create more and follow what I want to do!

Bought the book and the audible version and it was awesome to listen to while working on my own projects. It was almost like Adam himself was sitting there telling me a story.
