DIY Birthday Number Cakes 😱🤯👏
Makes 1 sheet cake OR 2 square cakes OR 2 round cakes OR 2 Bundt cakes
INGREDIENTS
For the cake:
3 cups SASKO Cake Wheat Flour
1¾ cups granulated sugar
1½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
4 large eggs
1 cup milk
¾ cup oil
1 tbsp vanilla essence
Basic buttercream icing:
1 block butter (500g)
6 cups icing sugar
2 tsp vanilla essence
Food colouring
METHOD
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease your cake tins. *Chef’s Tip: Reference the pictures below to decide which shapes you need for the number you wish to create.
2. Sieve the flour and combine with the sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla essence and mix with an electric hand mixer on medium speed until smooth.
4. Divide the batter between the baking tins and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean, the cake is lightly browned and springs back when pressed with a finger.
5. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before unmoulding onto a wire rack and allowing it to rest until completely cool.
6. Cut and decorate as needed with buttercream icing and ENJOY!
