Correct, *Nordom* is Modron spelled backwards, but that isn't just a pun.
As everything in Planescape: Torment, the name has a very philosophical root.
Nordom is _literally_ a backwards Modron.
Whereas Modrons are "the angels" of order, he was a being of chaos.
He was an outsider, an exception.
And the poor thing was quite confused about the whole thing, too.

My favorite Nordom quote is: "I think, therefore I am... I think." 🤔

There is a difference between a rogue modron and a exiled modron. Exiled modrons have filled out the proper paperwork, are severed from the hive mind, and are treated by other modrons like any other non-mordron.

Thanks for the info. I made a Modron campaign that started out on the underside of a new gear. The modrons march every 28 years on this gear alone and the players have yet to figure out why.

"Attention: Morte. I have a question. Do I have free will?"
*If free will means obeying my orders without question, then yes.*
"Free will does not seem to hold many benefits for a modron."

My favorite Modron fact is that when Orcus was defeated and turn into a shadow demon he killed Primus, took Primus place, made the Modrons March early to get his wand back, and then dipped once he got his wand, leaving behind corrupted code in some Modrons

The Modron March was (and still is!) the greatest adventure collection ever.

Damn you, Orcus, for your devilish shenanigans!

Great timing for this video.

I just finished Planescape Torment and have been reading a lot of the sourcebooks (for inspiration for an adventure that I'm writing).

The Modrons, they concept of hierarchy, the beurocracy of order/law, those things are incredible well written. Love the little guys.

Excellent timing as I have a setting NPC who is a Rogue Quadrone lost 'detached' from the most recent Modron March, lost while trekking the Beastlands lowest layer and come to the Prime Material Plane via a standing stone Gate.
Quadrone-1248 or Light Autonomous Repair Individual (LARI) is the local repairman of the community, misunderstood and often resulting in awkward dialogue.

The adorable creations of order. I wonder if they'll ever recover from the rogue March? 🧐

On one of the last UAs we got the Glitchling race and those are basically rogue modrons with other name for some reason

Cool! Hahaha it's so fortuitous that you made this vid, have just recently started playing a Clockwork Soul Sorcerer who has great relationship with Modrons

I love modrons and incorporate them into every adventure in some way

Some extra thing to know for dm purposes.
A rogue modron can still command lesser modrons
One rogue modron is in the astral plane and she makes magic weapons

One of my favorite NPCs I have ever made is Captain James Hook having been cursed to exist tethered to his hat, making the hat sentient and eliminating any other physical form, was put on by a rogue Decadron.
They are now named Captain James Silverbeard and they fly a both sea worthy and Spelljammer vessel named "The Endless March".
In Spelljammer mode it is all gold and seems, to the keenest of eyes, to run on Pixie Dust.
This NPC shows up somehow in every campaign I run.
The Crew of "The Endless March" are all the Modron previously under the command of the rogue Decadron. First Mate is Mr. Eems the remaining Pentadron aboard.

I love you Capt. Silverbeard.

I ran a campaign once in which the party of seven characters were transported to the Modrons' home plane in order to quickly traverse a huge region of the main world (kind of like The Nether in Minecraft, except this was back when the reference didn't exist yet).

Since most of the players were playing an "evil" character, some of whom were chaotic too, this ended about as well as you can imagine. There weren't any more shortcuts after that debacle! 😂

I'm not sure the creators of D&D really grasp the meaning of "infinite". The number of Modrons is measured in the thousands, in a universe where even a number of Modrons equaling Graham's Number would be insignificant.

Fun fact Nordom is voiced by Dan Castellaneta the voicr of Homer Simpson
