The extended support this game is absolutely commendable, life circumstances prevented me from getting the sequel day one; but will certainly buy it. As a PC player I agree with the conclusion, trading some image quality by going 1440p instead of 4k is generally preferable for the increase in fluidity; the jump from 1080p to 1440p is much bigger than that of 1440p to 4k to my eyes (which are getting old) - but getting at least 60 FPS is a much bigger improvement.

Update: Techland released a patch that allows for 60 FPS (at 936p) on Xbox Series S.

To me this shows what AAA games should be: pieces of high budget art that's preserved across many generations of hardware for anyone to play and enjoy. Assuming the title wasn't just churned out for easy cash, of course.

Both Dying Light and Dying Light 2 are among my all-time favorites.

It’s difficult to say why but I feel the old adage ‘the whole is more than the sum of its parts’ applies here.

The moment to moment gameplay is so engaging that it instantly grabs my attention in a way that most modern games have forgotten how to do.

Man, I absolutely love this game's main theme that plays in the background. So ominous and depressive, but excellent nonetheless. It would be a well suited theme for our last stage act before our time as a race comes crashing down and we disappear forever.

I still prefer this game over the second.

The fact they gave an update is absolutely amazing and very generous but I do have one issue and that’s considering dying light is a 7 year old game at this point I’m very surprised they weren’t able to do 4K 60fps considering the next gen consoles are more than capable of being able to run it at that

Techland's output since Dead island has been absolutely fantastic. I've really connected with all their first person games and the physicality of the combat, and now parkour, really is a unique experience in gaming to this day with Dark Messiah from Arkane being one of the other few similar experiences.

Honestly, their support for Dying Light and the overall quality of that game had me pick up DL2 at launch, sight unseen. Personally, after putting in many hours, i feel DL1 is the stronger game overall but DL2 is certainly not bad. I just feel the whole package of setting, music and characters is stronger in the first game.

1080p/30fps on the Series S is a very strange case... I wonder why some developers don't seem to care much for this console.

Dying light 2 also got a 60fps balanced mode for series x and a performance mode for the series s

The fact that a company like Rockstar who has made billions off of GTA Online, and still has the audacity to charge for a next gen upgrade is crazy to me. While Techland, a small studio, has provided years of content and carefully listened to fans about ways to improve their games, just gave us a free next gen upgrade. It really goes to show the nature of some corporations

I really loved this game, when I was playing it back in 2016. Sense of exploration, combat, graphics, movement fluidity, music, . So many elements clicked perfcetly with me. Im on a fence with DL2, havent tried it yet, but many fans of OG game are a bit let down by it.

The series S version should of had a 1080p 60fps. It isn’t as CPU limited as the one X’s CPU

It's so nice to see a 2015 game receiving an update to take advantage of the PS5 hardware. C'mon Sony, give us 60 fps Bloodborne!

Been waiting for this video. I settled on the 1440p 60 fps mode after experimenting. Before the update came out, I was playing the game at 1080 30 fps on my ps5 and couldn't believe I didn't remember how rough it ran. As soon as the update came out, I was happy to see how smooth everything was, even at the 4K 30 mode. Unfortunately, I just felt like the 4K mode still felt like it had a bit of input delay and felt sluggish after trying the two 60 fps modes. I didn't see a point in using the 1080 60 fps mode after trying it, when I have a 4K tv so naturally I landed in the middle on the 1440p mode which to me, 2K resolution has always looked quite close in games to 4K due to dynamic resolution scaling on the PS4 pro that I got so used to. So happy techland has continued to support this game though. Hopefully they do the same for the sequel which I'll eventually get to.

Video by Oliver? Then we know how Series S runs in this game already...

I don't know why the ps5/xbox sx didn't get a 4k 60 mode, a pc with similar hardware can easily get 60 fps in 4k.

The vibe and feeling in this game was 100% better than DL2.

Oliver to the Df team: give me the game where the Series S is underutilized
Df team: are you sure? There's other games where the Series runs perfectly
Oliver: yes! Please! Give the game where the S runs poorly!!
