Also to anyone who doesn’t know, once you strain it, you can throw all those bones back into the pot and make another batch from the same stuff! 2 or 3 times! Some people even do 4 times. More collagen is pulled out each time, it’s kind of crazy. My 3rd batch from same bones is always the most gelatinous 😊

Edit: I’ve also just learned how to make gelatinous bone broth with the instant pot. Put bones in, breaking up the leg bones so the cartilage is exposed, cover with water by an inch, put a splash of apple cider vinegar in (it pulls out more of the good stuff from the bones), and pressure cook on high for 90 minutes. So fast and easy and so so good. When using this method, I don’t use the chicken bones more than once. All the collagen seems to be pulled out in one go. You could still make a broth with them a second time, it just won’t be as gelatinous. With beef bones you can still do it this method using the bones over and over again (the most I’ve tried is 3 times). Happy bone broth making everyone!

I’ve had “bone broth” on my list for months. I truly had no idea that I could have been using all of those sad things forgotten about in the rotter drawer of my fridge. Thank you so much for giving me the confidence to experiment!

I save bones for broth too. My husband calls it bone soup and asks me if I’m making witch stew again whenever he sees me cooking this lol

I do the frozen bag method too. The only thing I recommend is roasting the scraps after you thaw them, before simmering. This will add color and flavor like no other.

I went into labor making chicken bone broth. 7 years later, my daughter made me a Mother's Day picture of her birth story. There were chickens and veg and my broken water and I love it!

My lazy girl broth: a pack of bones from the Asian market, a leek, black peppercorn to taste, two bay leaves (optional), and whatever onions I have on hand. Roast bones for 45 mins at 400, then toss in the pot with all the juices and extra things, simmer for 12-14 hours. I can make two batches from the same pot. I usually use distilled water but that’s optional too. 😊 if I had a garden maybe I’d get more fancy with it.

Ladies! Bone marrow is absolutely amazing for you! It helps your body heal and it's rich with nutrients! Its amazing when you're on your period, post natal, when you're sick! ❤

I love doing this! I have scrap jars in my freezer where are my produce waste goes. Once I have a few jars I made a big thing of broth like this.
Oh and roast your bones and scraps. Coat them in a few tablespoons of tomato paste before roasting if you want to add more flavor

For those watching and reading...

Use whatever herbs you want to your own preferences. I'm *NOT* criticizing the video because it's her's ans she's the one eating it but a few tips for everyone else...

My preference is to keep a large batch of stock i'm making to go in the freezer pretty neutral in flavor profile so I can later use it in whatever type of cuisine that i want so i leave out moat herbs and never salt it so saltlevels can be adjustable.

I always use carrot, onion, celery garlic. I just keep a bag in the freezer and add any peels and scraps as i go along cooking. My extra lazy girl way is to use costco rotisserie chickens, whenever i get 2 or 3 frames in the freezer it's time to make stock.

I also put it back in the pot to simmer and reduce by at least half so it's more of a concentrate and takes up less freezer space, then just add water when using to cook.

Love it! I love how you just kept it simple instead of trying to be perfect, adding stress that nobody needs. This is perfect! Great job

I heard once to also use vinegar/Apple cider vinegar like 1 tablespoon to 1 cup of water ratio I THINK, don’t hold me to it, and the reason for adding it is that it helps pull the collagen out of the bones and therefore makes it more gelatinous, and I tried it and genuinely saw a huge difference, I was blown away

Thank you for sharing it. It's pretty smart and packed with tons of flavours for a lazy method. Chef's kiss for me

👏👏👏 YES. Super flavorful and silky broth. Way better than any store bought watered down crap. When I am out, I use better than bouillon but this is delicious and free
