Valheim Mistlands How to deal with a Gjall

Tested back when Gjall was stronger and had more HP. Fully upgraded gear, bows skills on 30. This video demonstrates how easily they can be killed in theory. In general use this tips:

- distil some barley wine for fire resistance (more useful in latest Januarry 2023 PTB patch)
- If you enter shallow water, you can break off the fire damage effect, if you find yourself without the barley whine
- aim for their eggs (weak spot)
- most importantly, don't engage them when other enemies are around. So, reduce music volume or disable continuous music and listen to their sound cues, which will tell you where they are on time.
- prepare a battlefield with Wisp torches on the ground so that you can see the surrounding terrain better
- climb some cliff and start attacking Gjall from above. He won't be able to hit you until he climbs above you. You can deal a least 5-10 shots until he reaches you. When he reaches you, slide down the cliff into your prepared area, from which you will be able to more easily attack it in the weak spot.
- It becomes easier to deal with them when you are on cliffs with a crossbow, which can knock them back with each shot.
- Gjall can't attack you while facing you, so try to stay behind and directly below it by sprinting.
- Gjall will try to shake you off when positioned directly below it, without it attacking you
- Ticks can be parried and smashed with sledges and atgeir when they are on you and around you. Dodging removes them from your body, but doesn't work every time (will be patches soon)
- Luring Gjall to attack nearby dwarf village is also a good tactic

I remember the first time I met a Gjall. All I heard was the noise it makes but didn't see what it was. I got scared and started to run towards my friends. I found a ancient skull and was hiding under it and saw the thing float towards me. I was so scared lol

I have a method for dealing with them.

Step 1) Scream.

Step 2) Run in the opposite direction while shooting.

Step 3) Check to see if it died. If not, repeat from step 1.

Here's a hint if you want to deal with Gjalls more easily: Run around them and they can not shoot you. They need to face you in order to shoot or drop ticks.

The best way to deal with a gjall in my book is to run the other way. They are pretty loud. I hear one I turn and run somewhere else. Problem solved.
