Okay fine it's 8 ingredients if you include the salt, pepper, and rice that you serve it with. But still! This is so easy and so simple. Okay 9 if you include the water to cook the rice but that’s insane no one includes water.
Here is the recipe from the classic Phaidon cookbook, The Silver Spoon
CHICKEN IN PINK SAUCE
Pass the tomatoes through a food mill into a bowl. Melt the butter in a large pan, add the chicken pieces, and cook, turning frequently, until browned all over. Add the wine, milk, and tomatoes, season well with salt and pepper, cover, and cook over medium heat for about 1½ hours. A thick, tasty pink sauce will have formed, which, besides testing exquisite, is also very attractive. Serve the chicken in a warm serving dish, completely covered with the sauce, and accompanied with boiled or pilaf rice.
Gallina in Salsa Rosa
Serves: 6
Preparation: 20 min
Cooking: 1¾ hr
1 pound 2 ounces canned tomatoes
6 tablespoons butter
1 stewing chicken, cut into pieces
3/4 cup white wine
3/4 cup milk
Salt and pepper
Boiled or pilaf rice, to serve
